Workshop Update

***The following information is intended for 2015 workshop participants only***
We are one month away from the workshop, and there are some things that we need to take care of beforehand:
1) Shirts
The Plant Science Graduate Research Council (PSGSC) does not have residual funds that can be used to pre-purchase the shirts before the workshop.  As such, we need to request that all participants send in a check made out to PSGSC for $15.00 by August 7th. That way we will be able to have the shirts on the day of the workshop. These checks can be sent to the following address:
1575 Linden Dr.
Madison, WI
With the check, please include the name of the scout for whom the registration fee is being paid.  On our end, we will check off that the payment was received and inform you via e-mail.  On the day of the event, we will have a check-in booth where we will confirm that you paid the registration fee.  If you have paid, you will receive your shirt and have the opportunity to participate in the workshop; if not, you will not receive a shirt and you will not be able to participate.
2) Homework
We are putting the final touches on the homework.  This will be sent via e-mail before the end of next week.  The homework needs to be completed and submitted online by each scout before they come to the workshop. The homework will be due one week before the workshop so we have time to grade it. Scouts must receive 75% or higher on the homework questions in order to earn the merit badge.  If a score of 75% is not achieved on the first attempt, the scout will have time at the end of the workshop to correct their answers and resubmit.
3) Other Details
Blue cards will not be provided at the workshop, so you will need to bring your own. The information necessary to fill out the blue card will be provided in a subsequent e-mail, or if time permits, at the beginning of the event.
Lunch will not be provided for participants, so we ask that each scout make arrangements to bring a sack lunch.  There are few amenities on campus during the weekend for purchasing food, so please plan accordingly.
Parking details will be provided around a week before the event. Typically parking is free on the weekends.  A map will be sent out of campus highlighting the location of parking terraces or lots nearby the building where the workshop will be held.
Workshop Schedule will be sent out also a week in advance with information about what we will be doing during the workshop and how we will pass off each of the merit badge requirements. This is still in development, so we appreciate your patience.
Rotation Groups will be assigned by troop number and by age.  Based on the participants that have signed up, we have one group of 20 scouts ages 14 to 17 and two groups of 20 scouts ages 11-13. Within these groups, most scouts have been assigned to the same group if they are in the same troop. The only exception is scouts who are 14+ and belong to the same troop as young scouts. We created a group of older scouts in order to provide a more in-depth curriculum.  Again, we appreciate your understanding.
