Mindfulness through Yoga and Meditation
As a grad student, you’re probably acutely aware of all the stresses involved in working in an academic environment. Unfortunately, we aren’t taught how to manage stress or prioritize our own wellbeing and our physical and mental health can suffer immensely. Yoga and meditation are indigenous cultural and spiritual practices from India and Asia that have been practiced for thousands of years. They can provide simple techniques to help us tune into how we feel, be more mindful, and reduce stress and anxiety. Join us on Monday to talk with Hanna McIntosh (Entomology), a PhD student and registered yoga instructor, to learn some simple practices to help you feel better.

Our Shared Future of Collaboration and Innovation
Next Monday Journal Club will be taking another field trip to the CALS Equity and Diversity Committee’s Lunch and Learn. This session, Our Shared Future of Collaboration and Innovation: A Discussion Surrounding Authentic and Informed Educational and Research Partnerships, is the third in a series focusing on the Our Shared Future Heritage Marker, representing the university’s commitment to the Ho-Chunk Nation, and a multi-year effort to educate the campus and the broader community on the Ho-Chunk Nation and the history it shares with the university.
Monday, February 22nd, 2021
Join us next Monday for a discussion on research project organization, led by Haleigh Ortmeier-Clarke (Agronomy). We’ll be working through how best to manage your sources, as well as having a round table on useful things to share with new students. If you’ve been here a while, what did you wish you knew much earlier in your program? If you’re new to your program, come through and share in some hard-earned knowledge!
Monday, February 15th, 2021
Join us today for Journal Club where we’ll be discussing our goals for the semester, some new ventures from PSGSC, and what we’d like to get out of Journal Club this year. Bring your lunch/your pets/your thoughts!
